Question about sennheiser HD558

Hi,
I'm thinking about buying a secondhand sennheiser HD558 because I love the comfort of sennheiser.
But I've noticed that the HD518 has a ridge in the earcups and I was wondering does the HD558 also have this ridge?

I have a pair of HD 598's (Almost identical to the 558's), and they have a similar ridge inside. I don't have them with me, but when I get home from work tonight I can take a picture and show you.

 

What is the problem you have with the ridge? The HD 598's are amazing and the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. The ridge does not come in contact with my ear at any time.

Sometimes my right ear does but not normally. I don't really notice them unless I am in a irritable mood and everything is annoying me otherwise no I don't.

Yes, they do.

No, they don't. The ear cups are deep enough that the ridge won't bother 99.9% of people.

I was scared they would touch my ears, but it isn't a problem they are fine. 

Is there a local computer shop where you can check them out in person? An NCIX (err nevermind, I think there's only like one US store lol) or TigerDirect/MicroCenter, etc?

 

Honestly, for 99% of people, they are amazing and the most comfortable things in the price range. But, you won't know for yourself until you try it. Do you have abnormally large ears? That is about the only way you'd notice the ridge.

It's only there because the drivers are angled. The angle makes them deeper towards the back where lobes go, so if anything they're less likely to annoy than non angled driver cans.
