Computer "crashes" when starting a game

Go to solution Solved by vlkn´,

So you realised for yourself, your chipset does not work properly. I did the research for you

The guy with the same chipset and mainboard brand posted: Its running without issues in furmark and stability test,

but he gets all the times blue screens if he starts a game.

He said the chipset is getting very hot,

Original post: http://www.overclock.net/t/1065958/x58-chipset-very-hot-causing-problems

recommended answers: lower your chipset voltage, replace the heatsink of the chipset, get more airflow in your case, place a fan on top of the chipset.

Maybe it´s time to upgrade? I know you´ve got a good computer, but the chipset... thats annoying if you wanted your pc to last long and the only thing that is causing trouble is your chipset.

Hope this did help you. Good luck.

Hello! My problem is weird, and I have no idea what might be causing it. So basically, everytime I start a game (for the first time after bootup) my screen does the casual "HDMI mode check" and it causes every USB device and ethernet port to disconnect for a split second. This means my mouse, keyboard and graphics tablet wont necessarily work until I completely reboot my system. Sometimes it's only keyboard that stops working, sometimes mouse etc...

Today, for the first time the disconnected device seemed to be my graphics card...

If the first game I play after boot-up doesn't cause everything to crash, my pc will work normally until next Reboot.

Specs:

-Windows 7 Ultimate

-i7-920

-GTX-770

-8Gb Corsair vengeance single channel RAM

-Asus P6T Deluxe V2

-750W Corsair PSU

I've done the following trying to fix my problem; made sure every cable is in place and properly connected, cleaned off all dust with compressed air, updated drivers, tested PSU with multimeter

All help greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hey RivenHD,

You can try updating your OS, drivers, firmware and possibly your BIOS so you can have the latest everything. Also, I would test the PSU if it faulty and causing power loss to some of the parts during game loads while some parts are under 100% load.

I finally solved my problem in an interesting way. After overclocking from stock to 3.6GHz, and replacing the stock heatsink to a better one, none of the weird crashes/disconnects have happened.

Finding the optimal voltages for OC probably did the trick. Anyways, I'm glad my CPU turned out to be the D0 revision and therefore easily overclocked.

The weird part is, that RAISING voltages seemed to stabilise my system in this case.

Thank you very much for the support, and have a great day!
