The YAPP - Yet Another Prodigy Project

HCP
The YAPP - Yet Another Prodigy Project

Whilst building my other stuff i tend to crawl into my workstation and "lend" stuff to fit to my different projects. And now waiting for delivery of more plastics i decided to do a fast-mod.

So this fast project is not going to be a heavy build as i usually do, but just to get a workstation that i dont touch

Components to use.

AMD A10 6800K

ASRock FM2A85X motherboard

2x4gb Corsair Vengeance, 2x8gb is ordered

2x120gb Intel 320 SSD

Radeon 6570 fanless, (to get my triple monitors in)

Watercooling for CPU. DCP 2.2 pump, Supreme LTX block and 240 rad + 150mm reservoar, nothing fancy.

First plan was to put in some stuff into the case and be done with it.

But i cant, i feel sick if i dont put my personal touch to it.

Sooo, here we go!

Bubbling away, checking the loop.

Hoses not the correct routing yet, just thinking and testing.

digy.jpg

After makin all changes and stuff i want to put into it, it was time to put on the side panel to check the outside look.

Then i noticed this, the inside is taking alot space from the inside.

Pic taken from above showing the reservoar holding part in the front and the sidepanel electronics.

When i put a reservoar there, it will expand more and hit the sidepanel.

Time to rethink...

resh.jpg

And i made the front panel flip, making the 5,25" bay appear in the bottom.

I think this looks more sleek when adding a fan controller, so i did it. 5 minutes of work, topps!

Sorry about the messy desk, i brought in a old kitchen table to my workplace, my real work bench are busy of all the mods i have going... Better be done with this before my girlfriend comes here to the weekend

Here is a look from the front, you can see all pop rivets (should got black ones).

Just drill them out, take the framing off and flip it, rivet it back. Everything fits!

fp2.jpg

Here they are in a close-up, just drill them out and replace after you flipped the front panel.

And here is how its looks when done, 5 minutes later

its it a new edition

Im using a standard bitfenix prodigy i bought 7-8 months ago. I have just turned the front panel 180 degrees.

The case is also missing the top and bottom handles right now when im modding it, maybe thats why it looks strange :)

My picture of the prodigys /only making the black one now)

Some cnc cut parts to put on the case.

Will paint some, others will be vinyl wrapped. (not using all of them, its for other projects also)

The standard 5,25" is too big for a small fancontroller, didnt want to cut it.

So i made a new one in acrylic, gonna paint it later black.

The standard 5,25" bay

My own one, made to fit the Bitfenix Recon fancontroller

Allright, back from the vinyl cutter.

MR Roland did some good work, printed some other stuff to for the sidepanels

More about that laters...

cutter.jpg

And the mockup with the parts i thinking of.

Test pieces yet, didnt put so much time into the edges and stuff.

Very nice sir, very nice indeed.
but promise me that you place the logo dead centre when you are finishing the front, my OCD hurts when i look at that last picture....
Otherwise it is looking very promising and stylish, i am gonna follow this one for sure.

Intel 3930K @ 4,4ghz | Asus Rampage IV Extreme | Corsair Dominator GT 16gb | EVGA GTX 680 Classified | Asus Xonar Xense | Corsair HX 1050 | Corsair H100i | Corsair Force 3 120gb | Western Digital 2tb Black |

Some more vinyl testing, my first idea is to put on some vinyl to the sidepanels, and then cover the case with a clear coat (matte/not shiny) wich leaves the part where the vinyl is almost invisible, but visible anyways. Dont want it to be seen instantly.

But, the vinyl itself is pretty invisible so im not sure yet what to do.

In the pic, i have boosted the vinyl a bit to make it more visible. Its nothing you see if you not know about it or looking for details on the case.

The bay for the fan controller, didnt put much time into it as it will sit below the shrouding.

But its better than the original big one :)

The bottom shroud, got to use two pieces but thats allright, gonna put vinyl on it or paint it anyways.

Just using acrylic to get a strong plastic for the shroud.

Got to abandon the floor idea, got to small in there and no way to put stuff in without swearing :P

So i made this, a bigger one to house the PSU. 5cm longer (2 inches) so i can use 180mm PSU´s without any troubles for cable management.

Maybe open up the walls later, depends on temperatures in the testing.

Sanded and almost ready for paint. Holes in the top i made for all cables going up to the board, i dont want the visible hanging on the sides.

After some modifications, and more mods, and a little more it finally fits...

First coat of paint, tomorrow im gonna wet sand it and put on one more coat of paint and clearcoat.

Using matte/dull paint and clear, dont want it too shiny :)

Couldnt let go of the idea with a floor hiding all cables for the fancontroller and hide the pump under it...

So i made a floor, noticed one of the tubes dont fit, thinking about re-locate the fancontroller.

But, the reason i made a floor was to cover the fan controller, moving it makes the floor useless :P

Planning... i know... i´ll see later what i decide to do

Tubes only for mockup, going for clear tubing and brass/copper fittings in the final result.

Some how, some way i need to put in two 3,5" 3TB harddrives here...
Just a mockup motherboard, the real one burned for me...

Thinking about putting them to the right of the board on that edge, standing up on the side...

We´ll se in a few hours when its early enough to fire up the table saw :)

1, 2 and 5 bad words and nearly throwed the darn thing out the window before i got the floor right :)

Some more filing and then painting before i call this part ready!

Testing...

Dont mind the stretched hoses, just testing :)

Haha, this turned out to be a bigger project, making more work than i planned for :)

But i cant stoooop.... :P

The drive fastening-thingy, here is the part with 8 amber LED´s that will light up the acrylic part, painted black on the sides and sanded on the edges to get a soft light.

Testing with one drive. One more drive later on the other side and the part goes to the right of the motherboard in the pic above...

cage.jpg

Radiator in, testing with fans and some plastic parts i made. (4mm spacers above the fans)

A little more sanding and shortening of the bolts and its done in the top.

Some pics from leaktesting without any hardware.

Tomorrow its time for putting all together and boot it up :)

The red LED fan is going out and i´m waiting for a 140mm Amber/orange Aerocool Shark. Also changing the tubing for clear, this didnt turn out the way i liked.

The routing for the return feed probably need another route too, right now its just to get out of the way for the fancontroller.
