First Time Build

Hey all. I've just started putting together a parts list for my first build. I'm pretty much a rookie when it comes to all this stuff, but the idea of building a system really appealed to me. A few friends with comparable tech knowledge to me had built their own, so I decided to give it a shot.

So far I have everything except for the RAM and the power supply figured out, but all of the parts except the case are easily swapped out, since I haven't bought them yet. The build is here:

Since it is my first build I didn't really have much of a precedent for what to look for in some of the parts, but I followed several tutorial videos and forums to figure out what sounds right for my needs. I am primarily a gamer and I generally store a good amount of music and multimedia on the computer.

Any general advice would be great, specifically if any of my parts are going to bottleneck performance from other parts. 

Also, I am aiming for two 8gb sticks for 16 overall RAM, but I'm not sure how to shop for these, or what some good brands or specific sticks would be. 

The Power supply isn't decided until I firm up my other hardware choices and see how much power I need. 

I wasn't sure about the motherboard, that was what took the most time to research and decide on. 

What are some of the differences in makers of these GPUs? I know the GTX970 is made by NVidia, but there are several vendors which sell GPUs, with different features? What should I look for here?

Lastly, what are some good places/times/sites to buy from or find prices on these parts? So far I've been looking around on amazon, microcenter and newegg. Usually Amazon has the best price. 

 

I'm definitely looking to stay under $2000, ideally under $1500. 

I'm in the US

I will need a monitor and keyboard, have a few mice already.
