How do I Install a CPU?

Go to solution Solved by Tech_Dreamer,

Just pop it & in & follow the rest of the instruction , you don't need to change anything in the bios if you're not planning to overclock .. Sometime the hyper threading is disabled by default in some motherboard, seen a few in gigabyte boards..so check that oneout in the bios after installation if possible..

"Oh god, a noob" I hear you cry. But alas, I have a question.

---------

When you install a CPU, do you have to edit anything in the BIOS/EUFI, or do you just pop it in there and away you go?

I don't want to have a PC guy to come and charge me £30/hour for something I can do myself in under that, if said is the case.

It can depend on the CPU and board. If you're using, say a 4790K and a Z97 board, you just pop it in and you're good. For a 4790K and a Z87 board, the board will need a BIOS update before it will work.

For the most part, you just put it in and you're fine.

Well, it'll be an FM2A55M-DGS Motherboard by ASRock and an AMD A10-6800K APU. Is the same applicable? (Pop n' go).
