I'm currently building a gaming rig and I need a keyboard to go with it, I've been looking at mechanical keyboards and I really like the idea of them but I have no idea which switch is for me. I live in a city where there simply is nowhere to test mechanical keyboards, so I need some advice!

Currently and for the past few years I've been using an Apple Keyboard which is a low profile keyboard with scissor switches. I absolutely love it. A nice audible tab that's not too loud which the key is pressed. There's also no actuation middle ground, when you press down with just enough force to actuate the key it goes fully down and actuates and springs back up. No middle ground, no mistyping. What Cherry MX mechanical keyboard switch would best emulate that?

Thank you!

I would recommend buying one of these, they ship internationally. I have one and it has helped me a lot to decide which switch I like, highly recommended. In your case the Cherry MX Red switch will be the most suitable. Blacks also, but they need more pressure to hit. For a Red switch Keyboard I would suggest getting the K70 or even if you have the money go for the K95, great quality and awesome looking keyboards:D

Hope it helped.

Oooh, That sample kit looks perfect! Too bad it doesn't include a Green. I'll be getting it anyway. Thanks! :p

If it helps, you can think of Green switches as the clickiness of Blue combined with the force needed for Blacks. Personally, the difference in force needed to actuate the keys was minimal. The difference between Red and Black was very subtle, almost non-existent. Both my pinky fingers will feel the difference though, I've never been able to hit keys well with them.
