HELP! Windows 8.1

So i have built a pc for a friend of mine and it works fine, BUT... We forgot to buy an optical drive luckily i had a copy of windows 8.1 on my hardrive (illegal). However we have bought a legit copy of windows, now what i need to know is how do i change the pirated copy into the legal one. Ps he needed to have the computer running hence why i put the illegal version on. I need a full guide please.

Just search the computer for ´slui´ and press enter

This will bring up a menu that allows you to enter a product key, and activate Windows. Of course the product key needs to be for the same version, as the pirated Windows.

No, it will only activate Windows.

However it will allow you to access Windows Updates, and they might fix the bugs.

 

A possible bug fix could be to run a disk scan. Just type ´sfc /scannow´ into the CMD.

 

You could also reinstall Windows, but that might not be a preferable option.

Its best to just reinstall windows. Activating licence on pirated version could be risky. I don't say that you shouldn't do that but If I were you I wouldn't.

It's recommended to do a fresh install from an usb pendrive and not activate an pirated copy. It might come with build in remote administration tools or other malware.

 

You can create an usb installer directly from ms. This will create an usb installation media.

It will ask you for a legit productkey before downloading the iso. If it however won't accept your key here is the dummykey from microsoft for 8.1 core 334NH-RXG76-64THK-C7CKG-D3VPT
