Okay so my friend's macbookpro broke (link to my thread on that: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/256228-macbook-wont-boot/ )

So I figured that the problem is the HDD since her internet nearly stopped working and it is more than likely a dead Mobo,

Now she hadn't backed up so i'm trying to transfer her files, I took the HDD out and connected it to my computer, my computer recognizes the device and in device manager it says that the HDD is functioning normally, however I seem to be unable to access the files as it doesn't show up in 'computer' or anywhere else I can find.

Any idea how I can access the files on the disk?

How is the drive formatted? Windows can't see partitions that the Mac OS uses by default, whatever it is. I can't remember.

Were you using Windows to transfer the files?

Yeah I'm booting up in Windows since I can't boot off the disk

I'm pretty sure OSX does not allow you to access files from any other OS.

mhh so i'd have to throw my computer to have a hackintosh mirror to access it

Windows cannot read or write to a Mac formatted drive. The best thing you can do is either hook the drive up to another Mac or boot a Linux live environment and try to get Linux working with Mac drives.
