Hi gents! i need help getting a gpu for christmas, Im getting a LG 24GM77 which is a 144hz monitor and i like competitive fps games like CS:GO, I want a GPU that i will see the benefit in a 144hz monitor. I have a AMD 7770HD gpu and its time to get a new one, i also have a 8-core amd cpu 3.2Ghz, Asus m5a78l-m mobo and 16gb RAM, also the cpu the is watercooled by a corsair h80 and average temp is around 35 degrees celsius. my price range is around £300 but will spend a bit more if it beneficial. Thanks guys like to hear from your opinions, thanks ethan

For £300, you could possibly get a R9 280x / R9 290, or try get a GTX970 for a bit more. The GTX760 is still a good card and is only about the $220 price if you don't need that much power.

if i were to say getting a 970 would it be a waste getting the monitor i specified should i spend the money and go and get a gsync monitor?

A 970 would very likely push quite a few frames in games though you may need to lower settings. If you'd rather just enjoy a smooth gaming experience at any frame rate (above 40FPS) than I would go with the GSync monitor.
