raid 0 for shadow play?

Go to solution Solved by d33g33,

Interesting question. If they were SSDs I'd almost dismiss it as not a worry at all but if they are mechanicals and no SSD cache...

I doubt that running shadow play would have much effect and I really really doubt that its dependant on the HDD or more the CPU/GPU as the 780 has the built in h.264 coder which is being utilised for shadow play. I doubt having 1 HDD or 2 HDDs in raid 0 will have any effect at all if you're using modern mechanicals in regards to gameplay.

I am setting up a new build that will be including a gtx 780.  I record alot of my gameplay so I will be using the shadowplay alot for the recording.  The question I have is if anyone knows if recording to a raid 0 array with two hdds compared to a single hdd will have a varying affect on the performance hit.

I doubt it will. It will already be doing compresed stuff if I understood correctly, so it does not need sickening bandwith.
