CPU temps not reading

Go to solution Solved by Godlygamer23,

There are two temperature sensors. One of them is found on the socket and the other is found in the CPU. The sensor you're attempting to read is found on the CPU.

I have built my own computer and have been using it for about 2 years now. Not many problems showed up, but I am now having an issue with my computer not being able to read my cpu temps( in the bios and on several temp monitoring software). I would like to know what component actually reads the cpu?.... motherboard is my guess. I have gamed with it for a long time, and it is just now having this problem. Please give me an answer on how to fix this... hopefully I just need to replace the fan.

(when it is being read it says 0 degrees C)

Specs:7850 amd Radeon graphics card

           intel i5 2500k 3.3ghz cpu (stock fan)(not overclocked)

           operating windows 7 64bit

           2tb hard drive

           630Watt pwer supply

           8gigs of DDR3 ram

           Z77A-G41 motherboard

The 7850 is not a GeForce graphics card. It's a Radeon card.

My guess is a bad CPU sensor. Maybe one that eventually just broke.

Have you played around in the BIOS at all?

Are you putting the file in root?

What I mean by root is, are you just copying it to a flash drive?

Do you see the text file I put on my hard drive? It's not sitting in any folder. It's on the very top "layer" in the file system. I just copied it over without putting in a folder. Is this making sense?

BIOSes tend to look at the root for BIOS files. That's probably why it didn't find it.
