Default program to run .bat files.

Go to solution Solved by iruixos,

How do I Reset the file association defaults?

It will look something like this in Control Panel

filedefaults.png

If you can't do it from there, right click the file you're trying to open and manually assign it to cmd.exe

This is what happens when I launch my batch file:

So I tried to run a minecraft server, and it said i needed to run it in java 7. So I went to Control Panel>Programs>Default Programs>Associate a file type or protocol with a program and then I changed .bat to run with java 7 which fucked it up and now no .bats will run. So I went back to Control Panel>Programs>Default Programs>Associate a file type or protocol with a program and tried to associate .bat files with cmd.exe but it just freezes explorer.

PLEASE HELP!

Reset the file association defaults for .bat files, then try running it as-is. it should open a cmd.exe window and utilize Java if you've set it to open a .jar file

Alright thanks for the help. I tried a lot but just reverted to a system restore point that was automatically made yesterday evening which is fine.
