BETTER CPU OR BETTER GPU ? o.O

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

So if i stop rendering, should i choose the Xeon anyways ?

yes i would get a xeon E3-1231V3 if it's any cheaper than an i7-4790.

they are basicaly the same if you are using a dedicated graphics card (which you will..)

For PSU i agree the XFX XTR 550 is as good as it gets it's what i'm using right now and it's dead quiet.

i'm also using the V300, i suggest something else...

Get an H97 motherboard instead...H97 performance for example? if available at good price..

No need for an aftermarket cpu cooler unless you want more quiet machine...if so, consider ordering a 120mm noctua fan along with the 212...

i think that's all i have to say :)

Sup guys ? So I wanted to build a gaming pc but i forgot that i'm a youtuber and i post videos almost every day and that kept me thinking if i should go for a better cpu or better gpu ? on the new rig that I'm planning to build for 1000€. One problem is that for personal reasons it must be bought on http://www.chiptec.net/ So I wounder If u have better sugestions than mine. Get a 4690k instead you don't need hyperthreading. Use that money to get a better ssd. The ssd now is crap that changed it's manufacturing process to a cheaper one, basically it's half as fast as it's rated to be. Look at an mx100 or and samsung evo drive instead. You can buy a 250gb ssd that is massively fast with the cheaper cpu that will run games just as well.

They reason why you want a better CPU before a better GPU is for a couple reasons. 1) your CPU can bottleneck your GPU if it isn't good enough. 2) it is easier to upgrade a GPU than a CPU due to comparability of sockets and models. 3) GPU isn't an essential part of the computer, think of it like your birthday. You have cake, and it tastes great. But ice cream would make it WAY better. The GPU is the ice cream making the experience WAY better, but you can't have a birthday (computer) without some good cake (CPU)

Get an RMseries PSU

That hilarious. No. Just no. Why does everyone think they are so good? They are okay power supplies that are priced like the best you could possibly buy. Get a rosewill capstone. They are like 1/3 the price and are better power supplies.

It all mostly depends on what you're doing. If you don't want to overclock go for the Xeon. If you want to overclock go for the i7

I don't want to overclock but the thing is that the Xeon e3-1240v3 is only 25€ cheaper i don't think that is much if i get a better clock speed on i7

here in Italy an RM850 is 148 euros. all the others 800w psus are much more expensive

same with the 750, 600, 650 ones.
