AM3+ vs FM2+

I have been looking at motherboards and processors for an upcoming build and have noticed that so motherboards and cpu are FM2+ compatible and others are AM3+ I was just wondering if there are any differences and if so which will give me better performance?

FM2+ and AM3+ are different CPU socket types. An AM3+ processor will not work in an FM2+ motherboard, and vice versa.

 

FM2+ is for APUs such as the A10-7850K, and the Athlon series. AM3+ processors are for the FX series.

AM3+ are cheaper and have really good performance. FM2+ usually has more features, but doesn't offer many powerful CPUs

FM2+ sockets are for AMD's new APU linups while AM3+ is for AMD's CPU lineup i currently own a AM3+ socket mobo (asus m5a97 R2.0) with a FX8320 and it does everything i could ask for and more which isnt a whole lot.
