GTX 970 vs 780?

Graviityy
Go to solution Solved by Real_PhillBert,

what would be better 2 970s in sli OCed or one 980??

Not even close, 2x 970 >> 980

I recently sold my 780 to a friend to upgrade to a 970 or possibly a 980 (still not sure if i wanna shell out the extra money). Going from a 780 to a 970 will there be a noticeable performance difference or is it about the same just more power efficient? I'm only playing on 1080p at this time.

If you get good overclocker, then a 970 > 780 (by a bit); otherwise they're pretty much the same. Although the extra 1gb of VRAM will probably prove useful.

2x 780 > 970 > 780.

Shame you already sold you old 780.

But yes the 970 will generally outperform a 780 by a hair.

That is a popular configuration. However you may want to buy one and assess your performance, on a 1080 monitor you may not really have a need for a second 970, unless of course you have a 120/144Hz monitor.
