3570k vs 8350 live streaming

Go to solution Solved by Above7heInfluence,

I might return my 3570k to microcenter and upgrade to a 3770k.

That's your best bet I think. Hyper threading will help you a lot, especially since OBS takes advantage of it.

Linus doesn't change his results to be better for Intel, but Logan's tests contradict pretty much every other test out there.

I'm not saying he does, I'm just saying he's sponsored by Intel

I stream with a 3930k, 16gb ram and a 7970 thats extremely overclocked. Now a 3930k obviously is more powerful than a 3570k but your processor should still stream and play smoothly. The problem is most likely your graphics card. I would either upgrade it or buy a second one.

I doubt it is the graphics card, when you think about it streaming puts a lot of strain on the CPU because it is on the fly encoding the video.  So it would have to be the CPU, I might just get an 8320 an overclock the balls out of it.

8350k is neck and neck with the i5 3570k though. If you want a big jump in performance, get an i7 that has hyper threading. I can stream 720p using the slow preset in Xsplit (The most intensive preset on the cpu) and mine doesn't go past 30% usage. Hyper threading helps a lot when it comes to livestreaming.

By who? Linus's results were nearly the same, except I believe Linus's tests the 3570k came out ahead, but he is SPONSORED by intel. I believe teksyndicate isn't sponsored by AMD or Intel. So in theory his results would be better and less biased.

Edit: I'm not trying to start drama between linus/logan, I'm just trying to figure out the whole story

We need to have someone validate both Logan's and Linus' results.

amd's 8 core is very much similar to a hyper-threaded 4 core from intel.

I'd run the amd for 2 reasons:

1. your use scenario is what the AMD FX 8350 is best at, you are heavily multitasking.

2. You are playing CS:GO, and valve has a partnership with AMD, I would not be surprised if Valve titles are optimized for AMD procs and GPUs

I guess you'll get a bit better performance due to the extra cores on the 8350, but I think you'll be dissapointed in the boost you'll get. Rumor on the street is that 8 AMD cores = 5 Intel cores or something like that :P

That is not how cores work

What are you trying to correct me on? The fact that more cores = better multitasking or that 8 AMD cores = ~5 Intel cores? A lot of people speculate that equation because AMD's architecture is really behind Intel, making AMD's cores perform worse than Intel cores.

Me: Yeah I just really can't get my H220 working again, I've tried everything that was suggested in the forum.

Brian (Swiftech Support): Hmm, have you tried slapping it?

I was trying to correct you on the fact that cores is not comparable in that way because the more cores the more stuff you can do for example streaming uses more cores (you streaming to stuff like twitch not like you are the person watching )

BTW im NOT saying more cores gives you better performance in everything (sorry if im not very clear good at explaining plus im on my phone)

hello sir, yea i agree, coz like.. I know linus wouldn't do stuff like that, but he is sponsored by intel. I know he's better than that I think, but other people that are sponsored by companies always lean things in their favor, etc.

Linus is a human, and pretty much susceptible to everything other reviewers are susceptible to. Namely, favoring results in a company's favor because of money.

I remember when Slick and Linus did the test. They said that they weren't going to redo the exact settings as the Tek's, because they didn't see any value in duplicating results. For example, one had Full AA enabled for all of the tests, I don't remember who did what. I trust the results from both testers, you just have to decide on what settings you're going to use.

Linus did with and without AA, I think Logan tested a lot of games and showed the ones that performed better on the 8350.

If you are using xsplit switch to Open Broadcast Software, it performs so much better than xsplit and it is open source and free.

That's what I use already and love it haha. My processor is the i7 3930k so I mean, this has a lot of power for livestreaming, rendering, etc but I bought it for $399.99 on Black Friday so I don't know if you want to buy something that's that expensive...

I currently have the 3570k but I'm not too pleased with the streaming results.  I know that there is the Teksyndicate video but the results in that video have been proven wrong so many times that I don't know what to do.  I use OBS and stream CS GO at 720p, should I switch to the 8350?

well i can stream Grid 2 @720p, and 50fps on My AMD phenom ii x4 @3.8ghz , sooooooooooooooo you shouldnt need to upgrade

50 FPS is not enough, I play CS GO and BF3 so 120fps is necessary.

But Grid 2 is a racing game and 50 Fps is plenty

50fps is enough for you but not for me, I can't stand anything lower than ~100FPS.
