so im looking in to upgrading my pc starting with the motherboard i want to go with the Pentium G3258 so that i can upgrade just the cpu later i also want to be able to use all of my old ram so i need for dim slots and a 4 pin cpu power (or someway to hack a 4 pin in to a 8 pin) because i want to also use my old psu any ideas on what i should look in to? also it must be able to overclock the cpu (and possibly my video card)

 

List of things i would like to have

4 dim slots

LGA 1150

4-pin cpu

pci-e 16x slot

Overclocking!!

cheep as possible

 

also a few more sata ports would be really nice

The cheapest one with that would probably be a B85 chipset board. They don't support overclocking though, and because it's an enterprise platform they may not even support overclocking on the G3258 cpu. If you do care about that, then you'd probably have to jump up to an H97 chipset board, and even then you'd only get G3258 (not K-seires overclocking), plus a few other features that aren't on your list, so would probably be wasted.

overcloking for right now is a must untill i can get money for like a i5 4670k down the road. the g2358 is only ment to be something that i can use for right now so i dont have to go without a computer then when im done with it i plan to sell it to a friend so he can do the same sorry i forgot to include overclocking in my list

If you don't plan on using dual graphics cards get the cheapest Z97 motherboard available to you wheter it's asrock, asus, msi or gigabyte it's fine.

i thout that with the new bios on asus boards with the b85 chipset you could overclock the g3258 isnt that what linus said?? i found this possibly what do you think?

that would be great i really like that motherboard but can i overclock a g3258? my plan is to get that now then sell it to a friend when he builds his first computer and then get a better cpu myself i only have about $200 and i also need a case that would be good for a while
