codec for dxtory

Mr.Reggin
Go to solution Solved by ionbasa,

Maybe try UT VIdeo Codec? It is a lossless codec, but it scales quite nicely to file size ratio if you are willing to decrease the colorspace.

System specs? Do you want/need color accuracy? Do you want to still use a lossless codec?

i want one that makes thew file size smaller, according to Dxtory, my HDDs write speed is 70-80MB/s. Well I wanna record BF4, so the colours should still be good, dont need to be perfect doe.

Intel core i7 4702MQ

2xSamsung 840 evo 250GB

Samsung 5400rpm 1TB

Nvidia geforce gt 750M 4GB GDDR3

16GB DDR3 1333mhz

I use Lagarith with its lowest color mode. I rec Planetside 2 mostly. I have not frame drops with it.Neither from cpu nor the hdd write speed (i have a 500gb scorpio blue dedicate for video capture and editing). Most of my files which are more than 1 hour are about 120 GB as i remember. I just use handbrake to compress them. I can achieve about 10 times smaller size.

you want some links for dxtory guide?

Why don't u use OBS with QuickSync or NVENC? It give lower performance hit and good compression depending on your settings.

i use YV12  but with a i5 so no HT for me :P Are you puting the rec file on the samsung  hdd? do you have the game also on tjis drive? Don't forget to go to advance settings and click use 4 threads and also click on the  bottom windows on the far right and make sure the output is your screen resolution and also the frame rate is the same as movie cap option on main windows

Also dxtory has the option to  rec in mutiple drives

This is a pretty good one.

Lagarith is also pretty good. File sizes are a lot smaller http://lags.leetcode.net/codec.html

i have HT activated in the codec options. Of course I record to my HDD, thats why I need a better compression.

i already have it, but it still doesnt stay constant at 30fps, although my game fps are average 45FPS, so its the HDD.

Try to monitor the usage of your hdd while caping to see the actual usage of it. The easiest way is from windows task manager but i use a windows 7 gadget

oh inforgot to ask. Does your game run from the hdd or from the ssds?

Windows 8 removed gadgets.

But I'm glad the UT video codec was able to help.
