Try to stay away from the Phantom series. Too much plastic.

Try the NZXT S340 or the Corsair C70.

And why 2TB. If you don't need that, get a WD10EZEX.

If you are not doing heavy video edits, no need for the Core i7.

Get a 4690K and get a NEW H100i.

Are you planning on adding a second 8 gig stick of ram? otherwise i would get a 240 gig ssd its not much more expensive, and get a 750 watt power supply for future upgrades. i agree that the case is not great saw it at microcenter too much plastic all about looks.

Well seagate's one of the worse hard drive manufactures.

I would recommend getting a WD blue or black drive.

Refurbished water cooler doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

PSU I would try to find a deal on a Seasonic or EVGA.

SSD go with Samsung 840 EVO.

Windows 8.1; 100 bucks too much IMO especially with Windows 10 coming out soon.

You don't need an i7 for gaming, as said before. i5-4690k is the maximum CPU you need for most games. The Corsair H100i is a darn loud water cooler, so you might need to replace it's fans. I do have a good replacement in the PCPartPicker view below.

Also, there is no problem with Seagate drives. I've used Seagate for years, and I actually prefer them over WD. Besides, their 2TB drives are WAY cheaper.

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X40 98.3 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($107.27 @ TigerDirect)
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z87 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($189.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($84.98 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE Video Card  ($368.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: NZXT H440 (White/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($109.99 @ Micro Center)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($89.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $1381.15
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Desktop: Intel Core i3-6100, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce GTX 750 Ti

There's a promo code that takes away $10 from the OS
