LG Optimus 2x Update Problems

A few days ago I tried updating my phone for the first time. I followed what my friend told me when I asked how to update it. Install USB drivers, download lg support tool, download .kdz file etc... Anyways, when I tried   to update the phone I got " Problem with communicating between Cell Phone and PC." I followed what the window said, I pulled the battery out of my phone and reconnected it and tried the update again. I tried doing that 4-5 times and never got it to work. What should I do to fix this problem?
