Hi, so I'm thinking of upgrading to a mechanical keyboard but have no idea what switch does what or as somebody else told me what 'preference' differences are there.

So I want to ask all you mechanical keyboard owners what type of switches you have, what they are marketed to do, how they perform in your opinion and your keyboard switch preference.

It would be helpful if you listed your mechanical keyboard. Thanks.

Three differences, audible (click sound) and tactile (key movement bumps) feedback, as well as how hard it is to press the key.

I have blues, they have a loud click (And tactile bump) and are annoying as fuck to type on at 2AM.

Go for browns, No click but you still get that bump.

I do like the browns. Tactile feed back. Not too loud. The lack of tactile feed back turned me off from the blacks and reds and so did the loudness of the blues. Thanks. I'll look for an RGB Brown switch kb.

i have mx browns and i like them.the feedback is good enough for me and they are quite silent since the keyboard has o-rings preinstalled.but in the evening and especially at night...CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK .even with browns and o-rings.

i would not want to hear a blue switch at night thats for sure

the keyboard is Logitech G710+

^ This, I'm using blues and they were a pain when my computer was in the living room. Just get one of those testers as everyone likes different switches. This keyboard has some broke keys on it, but I'll try fixing them eventually. Anyway, I'll be getting a WASDKeyboards Code v2 keyboard with MX Clears which are similar to browns but need a little more force than a blue. I personally find blues way to easy to press. Again, it is all depended on what you like.

The reds, and blacks are loud when they are bottomed out. Most people bottom out mechanical keyboards after coming off of a membrane making them louder than the actual switch is.
