Just got all the parts for my new build, and then I tried booting...

The motherboard shows a 23 on the debug LED display. I consulted the user manual and saw that it stands for OEM Pre-memory initialization. which doesn't help much.

Please tell me that this is just a memory issue and not a CPU problem?

Reseat the memory or try different slots.

Have any spare socket 1155 CPUs? Could be the memory controller, I doubt it would be something so serious though.

Memory or cpu. You could take out the cpu and check for bent pins and then reseat it.

there are no bent pins. I took the CPU off of the socket and had a look at the bottom. Could a lack of contact from the pins be an issue? it looks like a lot of the contacts have been worn through, even if just to a tiny point.

Try cleaning the bottom of the cpu with alcohol. (not beer lol) See if that works make sure you let the cpu dry when your done but it should evaporate pretty quickly.

( EDIT: Also have you tried resting the bois?)

It's a CPU error, so it won't even post. I've tried clearing the CMOS to reset the  BIOS, but that didn't work either...

I may try the alcohol thing. I really don't want to go back and switch this thing... it'll take literal hours...
