Hey I'm new here. I'm would like to upgrade my build but don't really know where to start since you have to take compatability into account. I would like better FPS gaming performance.

I know that I need a CPU cooler and better fans. Just using the standard ones at the moment.

Any suggestions on cooling and further upgrades. Budget is about 1000 euro max.

Well you can upgrade your monitor and your GPU. That's only the parts that I see at your build that needs upgrading. Maybe add a 212 EVO also.

Get a gtx 970, get a cooler master hyper 212 evo or if your case supports it, an all in one cooler. get another 8GB set to make 16 GB. lastly this is a only if you want to have better cooling, a new case.

Hey there Delo and welcome to Linus Tech Tips forum :)

Your build looks pretty current and optimized.
That CPU is a non-k one which means it is locked for overclocking and you could run it on the stock cooler with no issues.
I would check out newer motherboards (a H97 or Z97) which would give you room for future upgrades.
For gaming, the most important part is the GPU. As the guys mentioned, you should upgrade your current one and with that budget you could easily go for a GTX970 or R9 290 class GPU. The 970 is known across the forums as a great price/performance card and wouldn't change much your wattage consumption (about 5 more watts). With the R9 290, your consumption would jump with about 110W but your PSU should handle it.
Other than that, I see no reason to upgrade this build as it should max out any current game. You could change your monitor to a better one.

Hope this helps,

Captain_WD.

Would a Kraken x61 fit in this case?

Few questions about upgrading the motherboard. If I upgrade to a Z97 like the ASUS Maximus VII Ranger.... I can get rid of my sound card right? Because the onboard soundcard is better then the Xonar DG I have at the moment or am I wrong?

The Kraken won't fit unfortunately. Gigabyte has a good set of on-board soundcard on their gaming series. (Using one myself :D) Although, I don't think your CPU is compatible with that board.

Hmm ok any alternative AIO coolers that could fit?

What's the benefit differences between the Asus Maximus VII and Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming??

@Captain_WD a 1155 CPU aint gonna fit on a 1150 socket so that is a no go. You can go nuts and change CPU, GPU and MoBo to the 1150 socket, a 4690k and a 970 but that is the big chunk of a new pc and because your CPU is perfectly good you should just get a 970. Cooler is possible but as it is a non K not necessary. It is nice though.

If you are not gonna buy a new CPU that is a 'K' then you won't need such a cooler the standard heatsink will provide enough. If I was you I would buy maybe a new monitor and leave the rest for later when you really need an upgrade because this pc will run the games well.

@BernendBoss

@Rebelattack

@vern021

What has a bigger effect? Buying a new monitor or upgrading to a GTX? Since they cost almost the same amount of money

If you think that you can still run everything on settings you are fine with then look at a new monitor if you want better performance then look at a GPU.

It depends on the GPU @Delo. If you're going with either a 1080p monitor or GTX 970, go with the 970. :D

 My bad, must have missed that, you are correct.

A GTX would be the better upgrade option IMHO.
