Help with a quick question

CloudySky

So I recently built a computer and noticed that the motherboard didn't have enough fan headers to support about 5 fans.

The motherboard is a

GIGA 990FXA UD3 Rev. 4

To cope with this problem, I bought this:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/15876/cab-844/XSPC_4-Pin_Molex_to_4x_3-Pin_Quad_Fan_Cable_-_Black.html

It was quite cheap so I didn't bother looking into the the wiring of the cable.

It arrived to me and I noticed that there was only 2 pins on the 4-pin Molex side and 2 pins on the three-pin side.

I'm going to hook up the headers to the PSU to power my front panel fans on my 450D.

Question:

Is it safe to hook this up to my fan and PSU without short-circuiting anything?

I'll apologize in advance if you guys are disgusted by my fingernails. However, some girls complimented me on the having nice nails. I don't know if I should take that as an insult or compliment.....anyways enough of going on a tangent.

The molex side is normal. The fan side, no. Send it back.

What's wrong with the fan side? I don't see anything wrong with it... I might not be seeing it... But I don't think there's anything wrong.

Well from what I have seen with splitters. It may or may not be an issue.

If I were to plug the three-pin to the fans, how would I know which specific way to plug them?

To elucidate, I plug the three pin in one way and it plugs into the middle and left socket of the cable, or I can turn it around and plug the three-pin into the middle and right socket.

Does it matter at all?

Edit: Nevermind, I just realized that the three-pin only plugs in one way.

Calculus... not fun

Anyway, vinyldash303 is right.

Calculus isn't that bad!

Practice it like a religion and it becomes quite simple.  :D

Update: Everything works fine!
