Today I went to play some rust, and I was getting some crappy fps. after investigating I found that my GPU clock didn't go past 450MHz. My GPU is a EVGA GTX 770 2gb with acx cooler. Another weird thing was that my CPU loads were reaching up between the high 50s and mid 60s most of of the time and sometimes dropping down to low-mid 40s. This might be an outcome of the low clock speeds. I haven't overclocked my GPu or anything and just left it to it's factory overclocked speed. This wasn't happening before, as i used to get great fps, now it stays at around 20-35 fps if i'm lucky. Help would be appreciated .

Go to NVidia control panel and disable power saving options (set to performance).

That fixed it with a different GPU for me. Not sure if that's what's going on here however (usually this has to do with overclocks iirc).

Set it to performace

really mircosoft?.... only have this thing on tablets/laptops/ and maybe All-in-ones to stop thermal throttling or something stupid like that.

thanks for the response. however, after setting it to performance, it showed the correct clock speeds but i'm still however only getting about 20-30 fps and the CPU usage is still about 40-50 and sometimes mid 70s, and it shows up it using around 6gbs of ram.

Have you tried restarting your computer after doing that?

My overclocks/normal clock speeds were only reapplied after restarting. This was with MSi Afterburner. Check GPU usage and clock speeds after that if you do restart and reply here.

after some experimenting, i set it to full screen and that seemed to get the CPU loads down to a healthy 5-15 percent depending on what i was running in the background. however the fps is still at around 20-30 and it still shows as using 6 gbs of ram.
