Im sorry it seems like Im spamming posts.

Forgive me If I am..

so I have been doing some research on what parts I need to get to finish my gaming rig from spare parts I have.

I needed a new CPU, Motherboard and a power supply. So far what I have been thinking is

CPU: AMD FX-6300  ($113 CDN)

Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A-D3P AM3+  ($80 CDN)

Memory: G.Skills Ribjaws 8gb

Graphics card: PNY GTX 580 1536MB 384-Bit GDD5 PCI Express 2.0x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support with CPU cooling

Case: Antec Lanboy

Power Supply: BitFenix BFP-FUR 550W 80+ Gold  ($80 CDN)

Storage: Kingston SSD 128gb + 2 TB HDD from seagate

Operating system: windows 7 64bit

Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster SA300 21.5'

Spending total of 273 CDN for this rig. Am I spending too much on the CPU and motherboard compared to the rest of the parts?

I'd upgrade the GPU, Everything else seems okay.

What? a gtx 580 is still a beast card.

Get a pentium and a h97 mobo. Better windows and general usage experience (and more expandability (pci e 3.0, m.2 (depends on mobo)). For the PSU a 600W CX series would be a good budget option.

Totally agree, I would get a a pentium and oc it little.

Unfortunately I cant :(. Im using all the spare parts I have and the GPU is one of them Im purchasing a new CPU, mobo and a power supply and mostly going for bang for the buck type of deal.

I was suggested Pentium G3258 from my other thread and was seriously considering it, but I keep hearing how FX-6300 has more value-money efficiency etc. Would you say otherwise? This is mostly my spare gaming rig( Im upgrading my main rig)

and Im looking for parts that will give me the most value-money ratio.

The pentium 'k' overclocks well, and at under $100 you can't exactly go wrong with it. You could also considered a locked i3-4130 with HyperThreading, if thats something that sounds appealing. But that'll push the budget a bit higher.

I'd go pentium g3258

I see yeah Im really new to overclocking and stuff thats why I was kinda shying away from g3258 and not to mention that overclock friendly motherboards for pentium K are supposedly really expensive?

Do you have any recommendation for the motherboard?

would G3258 go well with gigabyte B85M-DS3H?

Also Ive heard G3258 will choke on some games due to its dual core as some games require 3-4 cores.

fx6300 is fine.

and so is the pentium g3258.

imo just grab whatever seems good for you whether it's for your wallet or whatever you do with it.

well in my case I don't believe in over spending on a pc. since I love pc buiilding :) and customizing it.

also if you're getting it from the same shop then it's much easier.

Im kinda leaning towards G3258 for its OC ability, but do you know an affordable overclock friendly motherboard thats under or around $100?

well haven't really tried overclocking the g3258 I gave to my sister as a gift since if I want to overclock it for fun I decided to go water and sadly the water block for gpu I posted here few days ago were kinda a miss.

anyways this one looks pretty ok for the cash but not sure about overclocking with this. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z97%20Anniversary/?cat=Specifications can be have for like 80 bucks.

but if you can step it up to a 100 bucks. then the http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97E/overview/ looks like a great choice.

and when you plan to upgrade the cpu some time you can grab some i5 and call it a day.

pretty much if you can might as well go with the asus one. looks wise I kinda like it :).

anyways both of the board have pretty much the features you need and quite some which you won't even need or not use. although there are other boards It's the one in the price range which I have personally had first hand experience.

well the asus one has 6 phase compared to the 4 asrock one.
