Help with choosing a laptop!?!?...

kingforge
Hello guys, I'm new to the forum (sorry if this is in the wrong section)... Anyways I was just wondering from the community what would be a good laptop for my needs In general. I use to be an all out gamer on pc. But sadly My rig is old and is now dying (At least it lived for a worth while time for what I paid for it)... But I now seek something for on the go... a laptop.

I am hoping very soon to start doing some of my own youtube video's. I have my game consoles, blackmagic intensity shuttle (usb 3.0), recording software would be OBS, and the editing software would be sony vegas pro 11... Which Is why I am looking for help for searching for a decent laptop for recording. I also Have a few usb 3.0  2TB desktop drives (requires there own power source for better performance). So Storage for the laptop won't be that much of an issue.

As I said earlier, I was a PC gamer, I would love to still be able to play some games, but most of my games that I play are Valve games (more precisely Garry's Mod). But I would love to have Feedback about which specs would be best for me.

My preferred price range would be around $500 - $1250 <-(with the latest price including tax... 13% where I live >.>, which before tax is about $1100)

But also My ideal specs would be an...:

- Intel I5 dual or quad core processor (Preferably 3rd gen and up)

- 4 or 8gb of RAM

- Preferably an SSD Boot drive (or only the ssd... but I don't mind If it's a large HDD)

- A screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 (Just so that it is native with my display) but the screen not larger than 15.6"

Is the processor I'm thinking of too overkill for what I want to do when it comes to game capturing/ video editing/rendering?

Is the amount of ram overkill?

The reason Why these specs are a bit high (in my standards), is that I don't want to downgrade to a much slower performance. I know laptops are usually slower than custom made desktop's which is why I'm hoping the specs would be close to equal of my desktops performance. (My previous desktop specs are on my profile...

Also I live in Canada... So it would nice if the places of purchase offer shipping to Canada :-D

Thank you for your help in advanced,

King Forge

Also here are some of the laptops/ semi tablets I found...

Lenovo Flex 2 15 (Although I find these laptops a bit weird... why would you want your keyboard & touchpad to be facing opposite of you... and possibly causing scratches...)

Some of the best value oriented gaming laptops that are really good for multi-media are some custom built ones by smaller companies online. I would check out sager laptops, cyberpower pc's, and ibuypower. They aren't very big companies, but all they do is build gaming / high end computers. You can get a laptop with an I 7 quad core, an nvidia GTX860M, 8gb of ram, 1080p screen, for a little less then $1000 (this is true on cyberpower pc's, not sure about the other ones). All three of these companies allow you to customize the computer before you have it shipped to you, so it's possible to get an ssd in one off the bat. Here are the links. Also, i'm not sure about the other two companies, but I know for sure that cyberpower pc's can ship to Canada.

I have this laptop and it is pure awesome. Comes in 4th Gen i3, i5 and i7 and has a 360° hinge, but the only con is the mediocre battery. It also has an awesome retractable keyboard that lowers the keys when you are in tablet mode.

There have been many wars that have rocked the face of Earth, Many have heard of WWI, WWII, The Cold War, The Vietnam War and the Iraq War. But there has been a war that only a handful of humans know.....AMD vs Intel. It all started in 1985 when Intel released the first 32bit processor, the Intel 386. This war has been raging on for decades and Intel and AMD are still at each others throats. Fanboys have been ruthlessly killed, motherboards have been short circuited and most gruesome of all... CPU pins have been bent. Stop this war before it is too late. #STOPTHISWAR

Yea.... Razer's current laptop are a bit too expensive for my taste.. xD, Haven't heard of Aorus before, I'll check them out as well.

Yeah,  I seen some at my local retail store. They are nifty that's for sure. It's just I'm not really into lenovo's design all that much, but it does have good performance.
