Random Windows/gpu fails

Hey guys,

Today I was playing Saints Row 3 when suddenly everything startet lagging and one programm after the other died and then a bsod. I guess it was due to gpu overheating (gtx590 with low custom fan profil because of noise). But then, just a few minutes ago i was just surfing the web, windows changed the colour scheme and my gpu went from 0-100% up and down, over and over. The gpu temps went super fast rocket high so i immediatly shut down the system to prevent another heat-forced shutdown.

Now the question, what the shit is happening, and why? :D

I dont want my gpu to die cause its basically not mine lol.

By changed the colour scheme I assume you mean it dropped out of Aero.?

It sounds like the GPU is very stressed..if you need to run a custom FP just to keep it cool..What are the temps?

What other tasks do you have on the go..MSI after burner, FRAPS.etc ?

Can you unload those other tasks and see how it behaves..?

Well no, i have the fan profil to keep that damn thing quiet lol. Buz i have two 140mm fans pushing air under the gpu aswell.

And yes, aero stuff changed.

Temps are:

Gaming load normally: 82-86ºC

Idle @144hz: 50-55º

Idle @60hz: 33-37ºC

Idle @60hz today: 40-45ºC (hot day but still quite high.

Measured with afterburner and only chrome running next to it.

The BSOD should be looked into..may or may not be related..http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

DO a sweep of your GPU drivers and try the 314.22..other posts with nVidia GPU suggest not using the  320.18 

What about your PUS..? any other troubles that may lead to thinking it is not just a GPU death rattle..?

Your best effort is the easiest thing to give to someone else..

I will check the bsod. Havent had any trubbles with 320.18 so far but im gonna check that aswell. Also no problems with the psu.

So, i just looked through BSOD-View and it doesnt show me any bsods. This is kinda weird.

Otherwise, i've gone back to 314.22 and nothing bad happend so far! ^^
