So as most of you know one of nvidia's new feature with the 900 series is DSR. In a game I am currently playing it has supersampling options what I don't understand is what is the difference between the two cause when I looked up the definition of both they seem the same

 

SuperSampling:  This is achieved by rendering the image at a much higher resolution than the one being displayed, then shrinking it to the desired size, using the extra pixels for calculation. The result is a downsampled image with smoother transitions from one line of pixels to another along the edges of objects.

 

Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR):  it renders a game at a higher, more detailed resolution and intelligently shrinks the result back down to the resolution of your monitor, giving you 4K, 3840x2160-quality graphics on any screen.

 

so what's the difference and which one should I use in call of duty advanced warfare?

Considering you only have a 970, you should stick to native and apply some normal AA, it will be easier on the GPU.

They are the same exact thing. SS is just scales the image through the game where DSR scales through your graphics card.

Not all games have a supersampling option hence why it makes sense for Nvidia to add it into the driver to enable in it all games. If the game you're playing has the option already then just use it instead as the effect is the same.
