Hello, how are you?

I am writing this topic because o he some issues with physx that I would like to better understand.

I cannot play Metro 2033 redux without frequent crashes.

When playing, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then returns to the desktop with a message that the display driver stopped working and was recovered.

I searched around and it seems that physx is to blame.

People stopped having these crashes when assigning physx to the Cpu instead of the GPU.

Now, my questions as I am in he process of switching graphics card.

1- what does it mean in practice to have physx running from the Cpu?

2- I saw in Wikipedia that physx is only supported in a limited number of gsmes. How will it be in the future? If I decide to go AMD will I miss physx in the future?

3- some people have solved the issue with a dedicated card for physx like a 750 ti. How would that work in Sli with a Z97 Board? The 1150 Cpu only has 16 pcie lanes. So it would run the sli in 8x, 4x and the physx card at 4x. All in pcie 3.0. Would the sli miss the bandwidth?

4- with an sli of 970, would running a 750 ti for physx me a positive difference?

Well, guess that's it. Hope you can help me out here and we can all together increase our computer knowledge.

Cheers!

1. Make sure your PhysX drivers are up to date.

2. The issue may not be with Nvidia, but with the game because I own both of the non-redux games and I'd had no issues with them after I updated my drivers - particularly Metro: Last Light since Nvidia left out a PhysX update in a driver package that fixed an FPS issue in the game.

Hello, how are you?

Thank you for your replies.

I just fully uninstalled all nVidia drivers and software and did a clean install of 344.60.

Launched Metro Redux, played 6-7 minutes and it crashed.

This is the issue:
