Last moment build tips

Hi!

I bought a new PC ( http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Kb9cNG ) and I'm dying to build it. I will get all the parts very soon now.

Are there any tips on building (I am a first time builder) or anything really?

I am already allocating my Libraries and Downloads on the HDD.

Any idea how to most efficiently run a backup?

Thank you for your help.

Any tips? Don't force things.

I backup by cloning important docs to Dropbox and downloading them on my laptop. That's a very simplistic, crappy way of doing it though.

Best advice I can give is to take your time. Make sure to check where everything goes and ensure it's connected properly. I'd advise to connect the front panel connectors first while you have the room to get to them.

Find a good place to work. A wooden table is always good and anti static. Try to only touch the components by their heatsinks. Be organized. Don't make a mess for yourself.

No but seriously

When building, everything has a specific place, each cable has a home, and they all have a specific orientation and location

Make sure everything hanging is either connected securely, or neatly tidied away if not needed

Leave your case sides off as your test your PC, you never know if you have to move or change someting later, perhaps even leave some cable management until later in case you forget something and have to undo it all
