Okay, in my attempts to restore the audio of my Ubuntu machine (Acer c720 running Chrubuntu w/ 14.04) I ran the command:

sudo apt-get remove --purge pulseaudio alsa-base

then the comand:

sudo apt-get install alsa-base

After doing so, I logged out and then back in to the sys, and when i went to check my settings, none of the settings were there anymore. I clicked the "system settings" button on the top right of the desktop and all that it brought up was the Printers and Software & updates apps.

Any ideas, guys? Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks.
