So I was looking at one of those wireless antennas. I am planning to extend my range. I am not planning to use wireless extender.

1. I know NCIX and NEWEGG is a good place to buy them. But what about EBAY cheap antennas, are they just as good? have anyone tested one out yet?

2. can 2.4GHZ antenna work for 5Ghz?

(mathematically speaking yes, since the wave length for 5ghz is shorter, but have anyone try one out yet? what about other things like impedance matching? reflections? or if its even effective at all?)

3. any good product recommendations?

1. Not sure, really depends on he model. The more I use eBay though the less I trust it.

2. Not really, because it depends on the model. Some of them will work with 5ghz, but some of them won't.

3. I purchased some Tenda 9dBi antennas from Microcenter and they worked great, but only for 2.4ghz(they actually caused problems with my D-Link DIR-825 in 5ghz mode).
