So I want to build any mid-teir mining rig that uses normal GPUs, not ASIC cards. Also prefer an open air design. Can anyone make some suggestions? Thanks :)

Mining is not profitable you are better of spending your money in the casino.

Dare you to most that on the Foling@home sub-forum. Seriously, while I respect your right to your opinion such comments aren't helpful on a build help post.

You could have said that it was for folding and not for mining coins.

Well mining coins isn't profitable and folding is actually usefull for something and no I'm not a noob since I've mined and folded my self.

Cases are ususally hard to find so most people make  one them self.

A common used motherboard is Asrock h81 pro btc that board can use up to 6 gpu's

For the gpu's anything better than a 7950 from amd is a good choise

Psu: usually 2 1000w psu's per motherboard
