So I really don't know much about dedicated Physx, but I know some people have a dedicated Physx card. I'm receiving my GTX 970 in the mail early this week. I'm replacing my GTX 580 currently installed. My question is can I possibly use my GTX580 still? I've never used SLI or had a dedicated Physx card before. Can I run SLI with these? Or use my 580 as a dedicated Physx card? It still works great after all this time. Otherwise it's probably just gonna sit on my shelf because I doubt many people are looking to buy a GTX580 now days.

Wasn't there only a few games that actually uses hardware physx?

Anyone who has a sister hates the fact that his sister isn't Kasugano Sora.
Anyone who does not have a sister hates the fact that Kasugano Sora isn't his sister.
I'm not insulting anyone; I'm just being condescending. There is a difference, you see...

Oh wow, that is really interesting. It got bottlenecked so hard...well I guess my GTX580 will enjoy it's new home in my closet. Or when I do my complete overhaul with my new PC I might put my 580 with my old parts and make a dedicated render/streaming machine. Until then it will get some solitude in my closet as the 970 replaces it.

You won't need one. PhysX is well optimized in most games (I said most) and mid-tier/high-tier cards will handle the effect no problem. Just make sure you have the up-to-date PhysX drivers whenever you update your Nvidia drivers. There's been a couple of driver packages that Nvidia forgot to release a PhysX update in.
