Hard Drive Issues

Someone asked me if I knew anything about how to get data of a hard drive that wont turn on. The hard drive is a western digital 500 GB. Could it be the PCB? If so where could I go to replace it?

If you can, I would try putting it into a system to see if it'll power on at all. (I know you said it doesn't based on what the person said)

On eBay, there are a whole bunch of WD PCBs you can purchase.

Maybe put the hard drive in a caddy and power it from there and transfer the data through USB.

Maybe. What size hard drive is it? Capacity as well as physical size.

500 gig bytes nd like 3.5 inch

I can't guarantee that you'll find one that is for your hard drive, but there are a butt ton on eBay. If possible, I would try finding one with a return policy perhaps. My exact search terms were "WD hard drive circuit boards."
