I love this topic because there are so many opinions and so many good points.

Do you guys thing that a doctorate in computer sciences is worth it?

It looks good on a resume and can probably teach you some good stuff. But an average 4 year education could be good enough. My cousin has a 4 year degree in it and only learned new things the last year he was there because his interest in computers aided his education out of college. He had learned everything he was taught there way before he got there. I also have experienced that experience is (most of the time) better than education. You can have a 2 year education and 20 years of experience and have more knowledge than a person with a 4 year education.

What are your thoughts on this

Im a firm believer in 2 year degrees. Cheaper and you usually start about the same pay for most jobs in the computer world. Most places that are in the IT field want experience and certifications more than they do a degree. Yes a degree looks good on a resume but if you dont know what you are doing you wont last long at the job.

Very good point! A lot of places like video editing companies and game developers really look for hands on experience before a degree. Because they want a person who has good chemistry and can complete the job with speed, precision, and ease. No just someone who knows how to do it and has memorized every little option in the program, but has no hands on
