DSL Question?

I have DSL now its 7Mbps down and 1Mbps up. When someone uses the phone will it hurt my bandwidth? Randomly my network cuts out for a second sometimes.

In my area we always had to use splitters that had one for phone and one for a DSL connection to filter the lines and if we

didn't have one of those splitters on a line that was in use we had a lot of problems with our connection.

If you're not using VoIP then it shouldn't, even then, not that much.
