hi guys, so im planning to get a 5820k with a rampage V extreme with dual gtx980 g1 gaming.

I've seen that the 5820k only has 28 pci-e lanes and im wondering will this bother me? motherboard already has on board audio, wi-fi and ethernet(LAN),

i dont plan on doing raid but even if i did, raid cards are no longer necessary right? so what else would i need pci-e lanes for??? and whatever it is, is it worth an extra 200$ for a 5930k or an extra 600$ for a 5960x?

also, is there a significant difference between running dual graphics at 8x/8x or 16x/8x as opposed to 16x/16x?

It shouldn't be a concern to answer your question.

You don't give details on what you're doing. Are you just gaming? or anything else.

Choosing Intel enthuits line up has been made easy this gen as the horrid nerfing of CPU's you really only looking at the 5820K or 5960X.
Most people would only require the 5820K, unless you plan on doing other tasks.

Could I ask the choice of mobo. You say 5820K which is the cheapest CPU in the lineup and you want the rampage V extreme which is one of the most expensive mobo's for X99.
If you're getting it for aesthetics I understand (I have done the same thing), otherwise you can save money by choosing another. MSi has some great boards atm.

If you do stick with this, it will be a solid mid range build :) happy building.
