Upside down motherboard

So I'm planning on building a computer with a case (merlin sm5) in reverse orientation and a motherboard which will be therefore upside down. I want the MSI Z97-G45 Gaming (or something along the lines like the MSI Z97 Gaming 5), which has a big dragon-themed heatsink on its bottom right corner, as one can see in the image below. But with a case in reverse orientation and the motherboard being upside down, the heatsink will be upside down too! Not a big deal but looks horrible to me. The question is: does anyone know if it is possible to disassemble the heatsink cover of this or any equivalent (red and black color scheme is important) MSI mobo and put it back the other way around? Thanks a lot for the help.

Its generally possible to remove heat sinks.  I have no first hand experience with any msi motherboards.

Wouldn't that void any warranty? I suggest just getting a case that orients the mobo the right way

I know on the asus ones they officially support you remove the heatsinks (and it works without them on too).  Have you tried the EVGA FTW board? pretty sure it'd look good both ways round.

Maybe go with a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5?  The eye logo shouldn't look nearly as bad upside down.

You can remove it but you can't turn it. Its rectangle shape so it wouldn't fit unless you put it upside down. And even then I don't know if screws would fit in place.

So simpler way is either to get another mobo with less obvious graphic or cover that thing with your own custom printed one.

Well, that's precisely the idea: putting it upside down. Like dis:

Wouldn't that void any warranty?

Chances are that it won't fail, but still, I'm willing to take the risk.

I will if I have no choice... I maybe actually should since Gigabyte's mobos are slightly better and have slightly lower failure rates.
