Hey guys I have a problem where my CPU and GPU usage in most games never go above 50% (especially arma 3 and KSP) and I only get like >30fps in games that do. Do any of you guys know what the problem could possibly be? I have researched everywhere online and found nothing on people with a similar problem.

System Specs:

OS: Windows 8.1

CPU: AMD A10-7850K O/C'd to 4.3ghz

GPU: MSI Twin Frozr 2gb GTX 770

Ram: Kingston HyperX 8gb 2400mhz, clocked at 1600mhz because my system goes unstable when I use the XMP profile on it

Mobo: Gigabyte A88XM-D3H

PSU: Corsair CX600M

Hard Drive: WD blue 1tb

Case: Fractal arc mini r2 with 5 fans installed, so no problems with heat :/

Here is a screenshot with GPU usage and fps in top left hand corner of the game and task manager below the game: http://puu.sh/crTfl/5e88574d7f.jpg

Thanks in advance :)

it seems like a bottleneck, try to oc more your cpu and the rams, you must oc your rams.

The blood on to your heart start pumping faster when you notice me.

But is ok.

Judge me for my nickname, my avatar and for the low amounts of posts I have. I will keep your heart beat raised.

I tested KSP and my CPU usage never went above 30% with the game on max settings and several other programs running. Not sure what to suggest. :/

Make SURE that in your BIOS, the PCIE Slot is SET to PCIE 3.0 16x, not AUTO.

This can lead to issues.

Hardlock it to Your PCIE 3.0 or PCIE 2.0 (Whatever highest your Mobo allows/supports)

Test

Post findings ;)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

What is your GPU usage normally like?

Weird question... for normal usage...

It should normally be 98-100% for ALL users unless manually limited or bottlenecked.

Maybe it's only those types of games where the CPU bottleneck problem is prevalent on ALL systems due to the engine, (EG: ARMA3)

RTS/SPACE SIM games are mostly another classic example of a CPU used heavier on the games engine.

Just done it, i'm still getting the same problem. Could it be a windows 8 power saving feature as I notice an fps difference between power saving, balanced and high performance?

Should ALWAYS be on High performance. (Does not declock CPU under low-load situations)

Could be, switch it to high performance and see if it changes anything.

Did you try updating your graphics drivers?

Just switched to high performance, completely re-installed drivers to latest and still the same problem :/
