To start off, if anyone here has Shadow of Mordor you will be able to solve this for me.

Now, my problem is that I have a brand new Gigabyte 970 G1, and in Shadow of Mordor I noticed Branded Orc's faces flickering very badly.

This perplexed me for a while, fearing I destroyed my card by overclocking, spent a while googling around, and eventually found one post on Steam saying he was having the same issue, apparently the same issue that is in Deus Ex Human Revolution that is very common. The flickering is caused by tessellation being enabled and completely goes away when disabled.

Though this was the only mention I could find of anyone having the same problem, not enough to convince me it's the game and not my card.

Now here is a video showing it in Deus Ex HR:

It looks identical to what is happening to me in Shadow of Mordor.

It happens mainly on Orcs faces in Sauron's Army, significantly more noticeable on Branded Orcs.

It can be difficult to see on normal orcs, part of the reason it was so noticeable in Deus Ex is because the guard is completely black, so it stands out more.

It's very hard to get a screenshot of it all when it's at its worst, it looks far less annoying than it really is in pictures.

You'll notice dots by his left eye to the upper right.

Anyone with Shadow of Mordor want to enable/disable tessellation for me and post your finding?

It would be really reassuring to confirm it's the game at fault, not my card on a path to failure.

I don't see anything in the video.  No artifacts O.o  RMA the card maybe?

You'll need to 1080p and full screen that video, between 7-11 seconds when he's closest and not moving you can see.

It's hard to show in videos and pictures because of compression, it's literally like individual pixels that are flashing, very small, way more noticeable in-game.

My screenshot shows 2 small white dots near the left eye if you can see those, much more annoying in-game as they're moving around and changing constantly.

Completely disappears with tessellation disabled though, and everything looks great.

Would it be normal for a card to just not handle a setting properly but do everything else great? That's what makes me think it might not be the card.

Sucks that apparently nobody here owns SoM or cares to take the 30 seconds to see...

I haven't had any trouble in Mordor on my Gigabyte G1 Gaming 970, so it probably is your card.

That's odd then. I've even reset everything in Afterburner to default and the problem remains, not improved or anything.

The thing is, I can play with tessellation off and it never crashes and I notice no other problems.

It's as if it's a problem between my card and only tessellation, I don't understand that.

I thought if a graphics card was artifacting like crazy, you were screwed. But by simply turning off that setting, no anomalies exist anymore.
