i have a brand new ssd coz last one probably died drom gpu heat after 20 days of use so im not comfortable puting new ssd back where old died can somebody help me. its not a traditional sata drive its m.2 so it mounts directly on motherboard. i cant move my gpu because 2nd hdd bay cant be taken out. my m.2 crucial m550 512gb ssd is sata based is there any way to put it away from that slot? i know pcie to m.2 adapter but im not sure if its going to work on my drive. can tou recomend me somehow isolate head radiating up to ssd? please i want to use ssd but im kinda stuck

What GPU temps are you getting to see if it really died from that?

 

edit: http://www.legitreviews.com/plextor-m6e-256gb-m-2-pcie-ssd-review_144812/7 there they said 85° is within the safe zone. and most GPU won't be outputting 85° hot air.

and according to this your crucial has a recommend operating temperature of 0-70°

are you sure the heat from the gpu is what killed the last one? cuz that honestly shouldnt happen.  also what gpu do you use?

my MB is msi g55 z97

GPU is r9 290 vaporx from sapphire

i can never be sure but it hits 67 degrees when im mining i did this for about 24h im not a miner i just tested it

other parts is

cpu 4690k

psu rm750

cpu cooler hyper 212evo

case is thermal take chaser a31

ram is kingston hyperx furry 16gb 1600mhz kit + 4gb crucial 1600mhz as well

 

i wont ever check if it was temperature that killed it but its really probable

btw m.2 placing on my mb is just retarded

It did not die from heat. IMlessthanHO.

 

1 out of every ??? SSDs die from controller failure (used to anyway, idk if there are any models that definitely don't get that anymore).

 

Only reason SSD replacement is reaterdedly hard is you don't go swapping them around for fun so accessibility isn't paramount.
