On his laptop go to device manager and find the network adapter (It will have a yellow triangle). Right-click > Properties > Details > Select hardware ID from the drop down > Copy the largest entry > Paste into google. This allows you to find out what brand etc it actually is and probably also the name. Then just search for that brand and name drivers and tada.
