From what I hear the i3 is slightly better than the fx 6300 with a dedicated gpu but if you want to play some higher end games like Crysis 3 the extra cores from the fx 6300 will definitely help (although I could be wrong). But it's up to you I would recommend doing a little research or watching a Linus video as I'm pretty sure he did a comparison of some higher end cpu's that might reflect back on this.

Okay, First post here, so any mistakes can be pointed out.

If I were you I would go with the FX 6300. I'm not a AMD fanboy for those who might say that.

FX 6300 Pros :

-More Cores, helps you in gaming[Now and Future with the coming games utilizing more cores.]

-Unlocked[Helps in easier Overclocking]

-More Cache than the Intel i3 4150.

-Better Geekbench Benchmarks

-Costs around $20 less on Newegg.com

FX 6300 Cons :

-More Power Consumption[Not that high, but yes, a bit.

-Lesser Cache per core[Not that big a con]

-A bit more hotter than the Intel

-Lesser Per Core performance[but this shouldn't effect gaming much, but it would effect if you do photo editing and stuff]

So looking at all these I think you will be much benifited with the FX 6300 than the i3 4150.

Go intel for dat broadwell upgrade path. if your CPU isn't quite cutting it in a year or two, broadwell CPUs will be available to replace it

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

Well, futureproof? I would consider nothing as futureproof. I currently have the i5-650. The socket is LGA1156. Today, it is as good as extinct, but still I can play Battlefield 4 on low settings with GeForce 210. Which is a pretty bad GPU.

I'm looking to upgrade too. So when you buy or build a PC, you need to prepare that it is going to last a maximum of 4-5 years. But before that there will be a lot of better options available in the market.
