z97 supports sata-express and m.2

If you already have Z87, there is no reason to upgrade to Z97.  Just update the BIOS to the newest available, so that a newer CPU is compatible.  BTW, Z87 should support Broadwell.  If Z97 can support broadwell, that means its a 1150 socket, so hopefully another BIOS update is all that is needed for Z87 to work with Broadwell.

 

If you are buying new, get Z97 because it is compatible with devil's canyon out of the box, and comes with some extra features like M.sata
