I'm looking towards being a computer engineer because im so freaking interested in all the PC hardware and maybe a little software. Anyway, since this is who I wanna be, I was wondering what I'd need to do in university and what degrees to get to be able to be a qualified computer engineer.

EDIT: either a computer engineer or something along the lines of what Linus and Luke (Slick) are doing :)

EDIT: what skills am I going to need as well?

You take all the advanced physics, math, chemistry, programming, and electronics courses possible at your highschool then you try to get a 95%+ average to get into the computer engineering program at your university.

Woah that's a handful. How many years is it expected to take to take those courses?

Oh and by highschool, do you mean Grade 11 & 12?

well each university will have different requirements to get into computer engineering.

but usually you need the highest level math, physics, and chemistry courses + english

also each university will have a different minimum GPA to get in, depending on the demand for that course.

good universities like UBC or waterloo usually need 95-96%+ to get in.

No, no, you are on the wrong track. Here in UK University of Birmingham planning to change the name of the course to System engineering to show the course better

In Computer system engineering you are taking computer system and making them to work towards a goal. For example a city traffic network where they design and program the system

This course is more about the system engineering, where it uses computers as tools if you get me

Luke and Linus are closer to electronical engineers as those are the guys who are developing the components and the hardware for computers ( but not exclusively to PCs)

Where do you live?

depend on where you live.

In Canada, generally you have to take highest level math, physics, chemistry available in high school + calculus and English and have at least 85% average.

course such as electronics and programming are helpful, but not required. University will start teaching those areas from the beginning

In university, generally computer engineering require an equal mix of electronic (hardware) + programming (software), and you will have to study both theories an practical applications
