I presume your PSU is either unbranded, or doesn't have at least an 80+ Bronze rating.

I wouldn't risk it mate. Get a new PSU.

If you can run an R7 240 then you can run a 750 Ti. Of course a new PSU is better, but the 750 Ti is really designed to be able to run on crappy OEM power supplies, so as long as you don't overclock the card or the CPU you'll be fine :)

I don't think they are quite the same, didn't look on the web the power consumption of those cards but i think the 750Ti still consumes a bit more because she's more powerful and is mid-range.

R7 240 is low end and actually doesn't perform that great. But he still has an APU to use with so... I don't know if it's better actually since the performance improvement with hybrid crossfire using APU+GPU is pretty good :P

60 watts? It's not really THAT much... Most of the time, Radeon cards are always the big power-hungry ones.

The 240 uses 30W and the 750 Ti uses 60W, the difference between the two is neglectable and both will run on an OEM 300W power supply. Also, there is no Hybrid Crossfire with 6400K and R7 240. The 240 is running by itself in that PC, it can only run in Hybrid CF with a Kaveri APU (7700K or 7850K).

If he got some headroom then yeah, sure.

Hybrid CF is ONLY on Kaveri? I though that's something they implemented since the FM socket series was born.

It was, but only for particular cards. Hybrid CF for R7 240 is only supported with a Kaveri APU.

The 6400K in OP's PC can only Hybrid CF with HD 6450 and 6570.

So i was right, kind of.

I knew i wasn't totally wrong haha :D

Thanks for the reminder :P

So in the end, yeah, a 750Ti would be much better unless he/she could grab one of those cards to run Hybrid CF.

Well I was saying that you needed a Kaveri APU to run Hybrid CF with a 240, so I don't get where we're coming at here :P

But even in Hybrid CF with a 6570 it still won't be near a 750 Ti, which performs similarly to, if not better then, a 6950.

@Samjam13

The question isn't what's the rating of your PSU... is WHAT PSU is it?

Oh and what GTX 750 Ti :P? There are some of them that doesn't require an extra power connector

The reference version of the GTX 750Ti and the PSU is HP's own PSU i think. You can check my computers specs here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c04092736&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=dk&dlc=en&lc=en&product=6824492
