Hi, and thanks for reading!

I have been having problems with my current Keyboard (an old Corsair K90, I don't even think they produce this model anymore) for a few days now. Basically the "L" key doesn't really work as it should and to type an "l" I have to apply a really strong pressure to the Cherry Switch.  If I try to use it normally as I do with all the other keys, it simply doesn't work. I have no idea what the problem is, but because my warranty period ended around 4 months ago (I bought the keyboard around June 2012 with a 2 years warranty) and, as aready said the K90 is not even produced anymore (Which makes me thinks having the problem fixed will be really hard) I was thinking about buying a new, different one.

But before actually buying another Keyboard, I was wondering if it is still possible to fix my problem, because I am really happy with this product so far. But I don't reallly have the knowedge to say what I should do in order to to make the switch work just fine again.

Can someone help me in any way? What should I do?

Thanks a lot, and sorry if there are some grammar errors in my post (Or missing "l"s for obvious reasons, lol),  English is not my native language.

You could try relubing the switch that needs excessive force, but at this point, I would attempt to replace the defective switches. You should need a soldering iron and a couple of loose Cherry MX switches.

Ugh, I don't know if I could do that.

But sure is and idea. Do you think asking a "PC shop" or places like that to do it for me would work? I know a good place in my city where I also bought a few PC parts years ago.

I have zero experience in soldering and I think I could mess up really hard.

If they have knowledge in soldering, it wouldn't hurt to ask them.

Ahah thanks, sure I'm not a Forum expert.

Anyway, I am going to ask this shop if they can do it for me as soon as I can speak with the guy that works there (Probably on Monday).

In the sad case that they can't do it, I think I am going to buy a new keyboard.

A few months ago I saw the CM Storm QuickFire Rapid-I for the first time and I thought it was an interesting one. I may buy it, if I need to. Also I don't really use the numpad and the macros on the K90, buying it 2 years ago sure wasn't one of my smartest ideas, even if I am really happy with it now, ahah.

I am just worried about the missing wrist-rest. I'm really used to having one on this keyboard, but the Quickfire doesn't have it. Do you think it woud be a problem to get used to not having it?

The new corsair models (Like the K70) are really interesting but also too expensive for me right now.

Honestly, from being someone that switches between using a wristrest and not using one, it's no big deal. If you want, it shouldn't be hard to get a gel wristrest for the Rapid-I.

Speaking of which, it's a great keyboard. Generally, Cooler Master's keyboards are.

I found it for around 90€ (I think it is ~110 USD) and I think is a good price.

I'll let you know what the shops tells me as soon as possibe. (Maybe I can call them today, if I'm lucky.)

Thanks a lot for the help so far!

(My fingers are in pain because I am smashing the "L" so hard. I hope this ends soon, lol)

I have been able to speak with the shop and unfortunatey the told me that they don't do that sort of work.

I don't really know who should I ask now. I am probably going for the New Keyboard, I think I'll buy the RapidFire - I, and in case of wrist problems I'll just get an external wristrest as you suggested.

Do you know any other good keyboard with a similar price? Just to check out if there's something really good that I should consider buying.  :)
