My friends i pod is disabled (the only message being, "iPod disabled connect to iTunes"). After plugging into iTunes we got a message telling us to unlock the iPod, however the ipod doesn't even have a slider at the bottom.

DFU restore.

I believe that this is a safe mode of the Apple devices. I don't remember the name exactly unfotunatelly but there is a tool to force the device out of this mode. It is used by jail breakers, developers and so on.... (it is mostly useful if you messed up the jail break) you can download it for windows but again, i cant remember the name.
